A Tourist Travel Guide to Accommodation and Attractions in Worcestershire
Worcestershire is a county located in the West Midlands region of central England. Worcestershire has borders with Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, West Midlands, Warwickshire, and Gloucestershire. To the west, The two major rivers flowing through the county are the Severn and the Avon.
Other than the city of Worcester, there are several other small to medium sized towns such as Kidderminster, Bromsgrove, Malvern, Pershore, Evesham and Redditch. In the southern part of the county, the area is still largely rural.
Probably the most famous landmark in Worcester is its imposing Worcester cathedral. The current building, formally named The Cathedral Church of Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary, was begun in 1084 while its crypt dates from the 10th Century. The chapter house is the only circular one in the country while the cathedral also has the distinction of having the tomb of King John.

The Lake View Cafe has a balcony overlooking the 30 acre lake where you can enjoy a meal, tea/coffee or ice cream. The centre also has an excellent gift shop full of interesting gifts and there are conference facilities available for hire. You can fish on the lake, take a picnic or walk one of our four way marked trails. On site camping and caravanning is available and car parking is free for ticket holders. The music is a mix of styles ranging from traditional to mainstream to big band to "gypsy". A lively and exciting Best of Young Jazz venue provides an opportunity to hear potential stars of the future. Most venues are wheelchair accessible. Dogs under control are welcome.

Severn Valley Railway

Tel: 01299 403816 Fax: 01299 400839The Severn Valley Railway runs for 16 miles from Kidderminster in Worcestershire to Bridgnorth in Shropshire and boasts one of the largest collections of working steam locomotives and coaches, including some rolling stock which is over 80 years old. It hosts many special events throughout the year including visits by those children's favourites 'Thomas the Tank Engine' and of course 'Santa'. Other events include the popular '1940s Weekend', 'Classic Car and Bike Day' and 'Severn Valley in Bloom', which highlights the beautiful Station gardens. The Railway also offers a wide variety of catering facilities ranging from the buffets at the main stations, a trolley service on the trains, through to the ever popular Sunday luncheon trains. These trains operate on most Sundays throughout the year and advance booking is required. The beautiful valley of the River Severn is best seen from the train or by alighting at one of the intermediate stations you can enjoy a walk along the riverside paths.
